Grant & Development Writer
Full Time – Salem Headquarters & Distribution Center
The Grant and Development Writer supports the mission of Feeding Southwest Virginia in compliance with FSWVA’s Strategic Plan and the Development Department’s goals and objectives. The duties of this position include executing a comprehensive and aggressive program to generate funding from existing and new sources including foundations, corporations, governments, the national Feeding America organization, and civic and religious groups.
Prepares and writes content and key messaging for fundraising materials to include direct mail solicitations, appeal letters, newsletters and digital appeals. Provide occasional website and social media content regarding campaigns and appeals. Helps to develop plans with the Development Team for growing the number of donors by creating retention strategies, special grant opportunities, direct mail and online tactics, monthly giving and other best practices. Works diligently to pursue new potential supporters.

Annual Fund & Data Manager
Full Time – Salem Distribution Center
The Annual Fund and Data Manager will support the mission of Feeding Southwest Virginia and is responsible for managing the accuracy and efficiency of a constituent database management system, providing development donor services, office operations and administrative support for communications and fundraising programs. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Annual Fund and Data Manager works closely with the Director of Corporate Relations Development Officer and Director of Marketing and Communications to support and execute strategies to achieve goals for annual fundraising results.
The Annual Fund and Data Manager is responsible for tracking and implementing all functions of a comprehensive donor management database system including: 1) data entry, integrity and management, 2) gift processing and acknowledgement 3) donor services and recognition 4) reports, analysis and financial reconciliation. As the steward of the Annual Fund campaign, this position includes the following:
- Direct and execute strategic direct mail, digital and email solicitations that includes donor acquisition, gift renewal and upgrades.
- Manage staff and liaise with vendors, agencies, freelancers and other external suppliers/contactors to develop creative and execution of all direct solicitation marketing campaigns.
- Integrate fundraising efforts across all channels for effective fundraising success and collaborations.
- Monitor and manage collaborations with Feeding America national network for shared acquisition direct mail and digital solicitations and to maintain donor suppression, ownership and record integrity.
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the manager coordinates the daily office operations of the Development department, serves as a liaison with the departments of Finance and Volunteer Services, manages the office budget, arrangements for meetings and travel, correspondence and other tasks as assigned

Neighbors Empowerment & Advocacy Manager (Grant Funded Position)
Full Time Grant Funded for One Year – Roanoke Community Solutions Center
The Neighbors Empowerment and Advocacy Manager will support the mission of Feeding Southwest Virginia and is responsible to design and implement a meaningful way to gain input from neighbors you serve about what federal, state, or local policy campaign to advance to help improve their economic well-being.
Recruit, provide space, guidance, and support for neighbors you serve who are interested and able to become neighbor’s grassroots leaders for an advocacy and organizing campaign to advance your communities.
Strengthen the CSC Council in NW to address critical and social challenges that are barriers to economic development, workforce development and food insecurity.

Health Initiatives Director (Grant Funded Position)
Full Time Grant Funded for One Year- Salem Distribution Center
The Health Initiatives Director will support the mission of Feeding Southwest Virginia: Nourish Neighbors. Engage community partners. Develop solutions to address food insecurity. This position will be responsible for collaborating and engaging in efforts to build and foster relationships and program development between the healthcare community, health organizations, FSWVA and its partner agency network ultimately connecting anyone who is food insecure in Southwest Virginia to health and nutrition services as well as healthy food.
This dynamic public health professional must be skilled in relationship building, communication, and strategic thinking. Strong applicants will have demonstrated experience communicating with diverse audiences and utilizing data to improve health policies, programming and outcomes. The Class A Driver/Warehouse Associate will support the mission of Feeding Southwest Virginia by providing direct support in the daily operation of the warehouse including all duties related to shipping, receiving of food, warehouse maintenance, inventory control, food storage safety and distribution of products to agencies. Abingdon Positions
Partner Pick Up Associate
Full Time – Abingdon Distribution Center
The Partner Pick-Up Associate is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with local donors, including but not limited to retail grocery stores, outlet stores, restaurants, etc. in support of the store donation program. Build and maintain relationships with store personnel including store managers, assistant managers, and also (meat, deli, dairy, bakery, produce) managers and receivers. Build, maintain and nurture relationships with participating agency feeding partners and linking them to additional Partner Pick-Up pickups.
The Partner Pick-Up Associate is also responsible for managing and growing relationships with qualified partner agencies ensuring compliance, including but not limited to: Agency annual trainings, Serv-Safe, Meal-Connect reporting and other possible trainings as needed.
