Grant & Development Writer

Full Time – Salem Headquarters & Distribution Center

The Grant and Development Writer supports the mission of Feeding Southwest Virginia in compliance with FSWVA’s Strategic Plan and the Development Department’s goals and objectives. The duties of this position include executing a comprehensive and aggressive program to generate funding from existing and new sources including foundations, corporations, governments, the national Feeding America organization, and civic and religious groups.

Prepares and writes content and key messaging for fundraising materials to include direct mail solicitations, appeal letters, newsletters and digital appeals. Provide occasional website and social media content regarding campaigns and appeals. Helps to develop plans with the Development Team for growing the number of donors by creating retention strategies, special grant opportunities, direct mail and online tactics, monthly giving and other best practices. Works diligently to pursue new potential supporters.

Marketing & Communications Director

Child Nutrition Coordinator

Full Time – Community Solutions Center

The Child Nutrition Coordinator will support the mission of Feeding Southwest Virginia and is responsible for maintaining the proper food inventory at the Community Solutions Center, as well as menu planning and assisting with food preparation and, on occasion, the job training program.

The Child Nutrition Coordinator will support the mission of Feeding Southwest Virginia and is responsible for the oversight of food ordering, food inventory and the delivery schedule for children’s programs in the Roanoke Valley that will be receiving nutritious fresh meals. Works to ensure that all menu planning is in compliance with federal programs and adequate food is kept in inventory to meet the program needs while minimizing waste.

This position will work closely with the Meal Production Instructor regarding food procurement, inventory and menu planning. In addition, s/he will work closely with the designated Children’s Program Representative to assure that authorized sites are receiving food, and work with sites on meal pick-up or delivery scheduling. Responsible for assisting the Meal Production Instructor with the job training program including conducting assessments, interviewing and recruitment and overseeing meal production when necessary.

Neighbors Empowerment & Advocacy Manager

Full Time – Community Solutions CenterGrant Funded – Guaranteed position for one year

The Neighbors Empowerment and Advocacy Manager will support the mission of Feeding Southwest Virginia and is responsible to design and implement a meaningful way to gain input from neighbors you serve about what federal, state, or local policy campaign to advance to help improve their economic well-being.

Recruit, provide space, guidance, and support for neighbors you serve who are interested and able to become neighbor’s grassroots leaders for an advocacy and organizing campaign to advance your communities.

Strengthen the CSC Council in Northwest Roanoke to address critical and social challenges that are barriers to economic development, workforce development and food insecurity.
